My pastel
and acrylic paintings are a peaceful pause and a celebration
of the beauty in life's ordinary moments the cool shade
of a tree on a hot summer day, the setting sun turning a field
gold, or a red barn silhouetted against a blue sky. An exploration
of color and light, these welcoming scenes are my antidote for
stress.
The rich,
vibrant colors of both pastel and acrylics inspire me. As a
graphic designer and art director, I learned drawing, design
and discipline. When I returned to fine art, painting opened
my eyes to the everyday beauty around me.
I attended
Rhode Island School of Design and received a B.F.A. from Massachusetts
College of Art. My mother, a creative and talented watercolor
painter and commercial artist, encouraged my artistic pursuits
from an early age.

I will have a series of posters that explains
the pastel medium, tools, techniques, and a brief history. I
will also set out hard and soft pastels, pastel pencils, and
several different surfaces so visitors can try them out.
I
will have two demonstrations set up. The first one will be a
still life and the other will be a landscape with a photo reference.
I will work on both pieces as time permits.
Fruit,
cookies, coffee, water and lemonade will be available.
