2 · LUCI SHIREK · watercolor, oil, acrylic

Luci Shirek

My Creative Spirit: "I embody the Renaissance ideal of an artist, working in every medium with skill, intelligence and passion."
~ Pablo Picasso

As a creative person, I cannot work in only one medium. Although my focus is on watercolor painting, I also work in oil, acrylic, gouache, serigraphy and ceramics. I not only paint on paper, I also paint on furniture and walls. I have been commissioned to do art pieces ranging from house and barn portraits, business signs, painted furniture, to murals of birds on a kitchen wall, and fruits and vegetables on a produce barn. My work is as realistic as a photograph or as abstract as just shapes. I work in both forms; I need the structure and the spontaneity.

I teach watercolor for the University of Wisconsin Union Mini-Courses and M.A.T.C. Adult and Continuing Education in Madison, as well as various weekend workshops.

Memberships include the Madison Watercolor Society, the Southern Wisconsin Watercolor Society, Madison Art Guild, the Wisconsin Regional Artist Association and the Wisconsin Alliance of Artists and Craftspeople.

DEMONSTRATION: I will do watercolor and acrylic demonstrations each day, with visitor participation encouraged.

STUDIO ACCESS: Entry to Studio, Gallery, and Hands-on Participation areas are on ground level, with doorway near the garage. An additional Gallery is on the middle level of this tri-level home, 9 steps up inside. The Studio is located near the top of a hill with parking on the hill, saving handicap parking for driveway.
