I never
made a conscious decision to become an artist, I was simply
born this way. I remember drawing at a very early age and, to
this day, I am happiest with a pen in my hand and a sketchbook
on my knee. At the UW, I took as many drawing classes as were
allowed and my skills served me well as a fashion illustrator
in Chicago and as a freelance pen and ink artist for UW Extension
publications.
A few years ago I took an oil painting class at MATC and a whole
new, colorful and exciting world opened up in front of my eyes.
At times, I still feel like a beginner when it comes to painting
in oils, but I am certainly enjoying the learning curve. Our
little part of Wisconsin is home to a surprising number of talented
and accomplished plein air painters who inspire me and whom
I am proud to call "friends".

My husband
and I purchased our beautiful farm in Perry Township almost
40 years ago and I realize that I have enough subject matter,
just outside my door, to last a lifetime.
DEMONSTRATION:
I will have my plein air easel and gear set up near the garden,
which is adjacent to the entry door and I will explain my approach
to outdoor painting. Several of my sketchbooks will also be
on display.
