Pat Filzen | fiber art

As a textile artist, I try to capture an emotion with fibers and  colors; my sheep providing the wools I’ve dyed and spun, enhancing  the story of the piece. I have raised sheep for over 30 years – from the  breeding, shearing, washing, dying, and blending process to the spun, woven and felted finished pieces. My recent work includes dimensional felted vessels created in response to a ceramic work by my friend, Leslie Tomomatsu. Together we held a 2 person show in September, 2007 at Main Street Art Works, Hilbert, WI. I have degrees in Museum Studies from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. In addition, I have studied textiles with Sarah Swett of MT, Rose Vigil of NM,  Chad Hagan of NC, Alexander Pilin of Russia, Patricia Spark of OR,  and Jori Johnson of Japan.
