Pacia Sallomi received her MFA in studio arts from Texas Tech University in 1997 and began teaching the following fall at Carroll College where she is currently an Associate Professor of Art. She has had 17 solo shows and has been included in over 65 national and International exhibitions. Some of the jurors of her group shows have been: Elizabeth Smith, chief curator, Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, Lisa Messinger, Curator of Modern Art, Metropolitan Museum, NYC, William Peterson & Dave Hickey.

In January of 2007 a collaborative book of poetry (by Phyllis Stowell) and paintings (by Pacia) called “Shield/Bouclier” was published. The French translation is by Claire Malroux. This project was created in part during a residency at CAMAC, in Marney-sur-Seine in France where it was exhibited in the Spring of 2003.

In 2001 Pacia completed a sound installation piece called “In One Voice” that was exhibited for the first time that year. The opening of the exhibit was on September 11.
It is a piece that uses an ancient Sumerian text that had been translated into 12 different languages. This piece was recently accepted in the digital archive for the 911 Memorial Museum in NYC.
